Hugh Pelham´s visit of the construction site of Gordie Howe International Bridge

Our CEO, Hugh Pelham, along with Mega Projects President Thomas Kahl, visited the construction site of the landmark Gordie Howe International Bridge on July 17, 2023. This remarkable cable-stayed bridge will span the Detroit River, connecting Detroit, MI in the United States, and Windsor, Ontario in Canada.  During the visit, Hugh had the honor of signing one of the Bridge floor beams, a symbolic celebration of the valued providers that are contributing to the Bridge’s construction.

Anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024, the Gordie Howe International Bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and the tenth longest in the world.

DYWIDAG is providing a total of 216 Multistrand Stay Cables, sized up to 127 strands with passive de-icing and other state-of-the-art technologies. Involvement also includes specialized technical assistance, bridge tie-downs, post-tensioning material for the composite deck, construction force monitoring, and drainage systems.
